Recovering a deleted virtual machine using its OS Disk
In this article, you will learn how to recover a deleted virtual machine using it Operating system disc.
When you mistakingly delete a virtual machine, what you need to do is very simple.
Just login to your Azure account and locate the resource group where the virtual machine resides. Pick up the Operating system Disc that was used to set up the virtual machine.
In my Case, the virtual machine still exist. Proceed to open the OS Disc
I go ahead to delete the Virtual machine in the resource group
The above image shows that my Virtual Machine is still intact.
Right click on the Virtual machine and Delete
This Page really shows that before a Virtual machine is deleted ,it must be confirm first before been deleted.
Deleting your virtual machine in this page delete the virtual machine along side the OS Disc. thus, your VM cannot be recreated from your OS Disc. Go to Resource home Select the virtual machine to be deleted .
This will list out all the resources attached to the VM, and exclude the OS Disc and Data Disc and delete.
This Process will delete only the Virtual Machine
Deletion of a virtual machine can occur at time for any reason ranging from lost of minds ,Hackers , etc.
Now that my virtual machine no longer exist , proceed to home
Select the resources as listed above
The OS Disc in which the Virtual machine deleted is still available.
Click on it
Click on the Create VM and follow the Process of creating a Virtual machine.
Since we are creating our virtual machine from the available OS Disc, the Selected OS will be our image which already carry the information's of the previously created VM . thus ,some information cannot be change since we are creating our VM is to be restored to the previous VM.
